My name is Amy Burgdorf and I had the gastric sleeve done. I had the surgery on June 15th of 2012 and I’ve lost 40 pounds. The staff was very nice, very helpful. If I ever had any questions, they answered it. If I ever needed anything at all, they were always there. A gentleman through my husband’s work had the procedure done and when we found out our insurance covered it, I made the phone call.
The way Dr. Frenzel made me feel at ease was: any question I ever had, he answered it honestly. The day of the surgery, he was there, he came and checked on me beforehand and, of course, afterwards. So that made me feel really good.
The expectations I had was just kind of to get my life back. I didn’t ever have any weight issues until after I had my daughter and it took about seven years for me to finally be able to do anything about it. With working out, eating the right way, I went to weight watchers, nothing ever helped. So this was my last chance to try to get my life back. Yes, I did have sleep issues in the past, where I would get up four, five, six times a night. Now, I’m sleeping through the night and that is the best thing ever. It’s so nice waking up feeling refreshed. There has been some reactions to my weight loss. I saw some friends that I hadn’t seen since last year and they couldn’t believe how much weight I’ve lost and how much energy I did seem to have when we were running around doing things, so it was very…I don’t know, it just made me feel really good.
I think the decision for me to do this was really just for me and not for anybody else. I wanted to try to get back to where I was the day that I met my husband. Which, who knows, that may never happen, but at least I’m on my way. What I’m most thankful for: honestly, everything. From the moment I met Dr. Frenzel until now, just, you know, the surgery has been the best thing I could have ever done for me. Forty pounds is great, you know, it’s, it just feels good.
I would love to thank Dr. Frenzel. I feel like, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. And, I hope that I can keep going and I hope he’s around for a very long time helping out more people.
